The sun is shining, the wind is low, the view from the balcony is breathtaking… what a sacrifice to be in ministry! When I woke up Monday morning, I still did not feel well. A deep down feeling of anxiety has been around for a while, and although I needed the long sleep, the feeling had not disappeared. Mondaymorning Lesley Cheeseman from the UK did the ‘devotional’. She shared that she had experienced the exact same thing as I was going through. She had been given leadership responsibilities, and after a period of excitement and growth in this role, she felt things were going the wrong way; especially at night she was haunted by the anxiety, problems, fear of failure, et cetera… She shared how she had found out she was not ‘walking in the Spirit’, but trying to do it all by her own strength. It really ministered to me, and since then things have changed – and today I was really able to enjoy the blessings.

I had lunch with Theo and Harmke, to get to know eachother a little bit. They are a great young couple, strong in both character and skills, and we had a great time. I am really looking forward to working together.

In the afternoon, the national team meeting today was the best we’ve ever had, we sat on the rocks, enjoying the sea and the sunset. We shared from our personal life, our ups and downs, what we had gone through this past week. Much better than talking about a strategy paper!<\/p>\n

At night we heard an incredible encouraging report. Tiny Veltman had returned to Holland Monday night. While in the plane, she got to talk to the person next to hear. That person told her about this strange thing that had happened on the flight to Barcelona last week – how some girl sang a beautiful song in the airplane, and how this song had touched her deeply… Isn’t that amazing, how God can use a practical joke to touch somebody!<\/p>\n

I had the ‘privilege’ to end the conference with a special party at Javier Garcia’s hotel room with a good Spanish wine and good company.
