Watched the final episode of Peking Express<\/a> last night. I already told you<\/a> some time ago I like this show<\/a>, and this year again I saw most of the race. And I am content with this years’ winners; they started out very modestly, not too visibly competitive. But they grew in their cunningness, and in the end they played a very good strategic game. At the same time, this year’s edition made me wonder from time to time how much of it is fake or semi-real; there were a lot of ‘coincidental’ things that kept the tension in the show. But hey, who cares? It was nice to watch, and I am impressed again with South Asian culture, the beauty of creation, the creativity of man.<\/p>\n

Now, here’s the thing that came to my mind: why not make a Christian version of Peking Express and call it something like Deking Express? The rules of the game are to be sent out two by two into the villages of some (middle eastern) region and preach the Kingdom, heal and deliver (PhD) as many people as possible, while not taking anything except a staff – no bread, no bag, no money in the belts; wearing sandals but not an extra tunic. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them.
If you don’t recognise all of this: this game was already played in the early days, say 32 AD, when a strange fellow named Jesus sent out twelve of his best friends to do this exact thing.
And now that I have friends at EO<\/a>, I might send the format to them. They are doing stuff like this<\/a> already. Wouldn’t it be great fun to watch twelve contemporary apostles followed by a camera and a mic to record all their miracles?
